PHIRST Funding Scheme

The Population Health Investing in Research Students' Training (PHIRST) research funding scheme provides funding for research expenses incurred by Graduate Research Degree students (Master of Philosophy and PhD students) in the School of Population Health. This scheme is not available to CHS Masters coursework students. For guidelines and application forms for the PHIRST scheme, visit the Melbourne School of Population Health's Policies, Procedures and Forms.

Are there other funding schemes that I should know about?

As the PHIRST funding scheme is limited you are advised to seek support from other funding schemes available. Inquire at the Melbourne Scholarships Office for the Melbourne Abroad Travelling Scholarship Scheme (MATS) or the Postgraduate Overseas Research Experience Scholarship (PORES). Details on these schemes are available from Student Management Services Graduate Research Scholarships pages.

If your research is history related, you may also wish to consider funding schemes available from the Medical History Society of Victoria.
